Mr. Richard R. "Dick" Moore
July 22nd, 1946 ~ January 12th, 2021
A piece of Norton Funeral Home went to Heaven when we lost you. Dick was a major part of our family, who devoted countless hours to serving families and even doing odd jobs around the funeral home. He would always arrive early and leave late. When Dick saw something needed fixing, he didn't ask if it needed attention, he just completed the job. Although his physical presence is greatly missed, we will carry his memory and legacy with us each and every day.
Reverend Jackie Hinson
September 3rd, 1934 ~ August 5th, 2022
Dedicated to family and friends, but most importantly to God, this was Reverend Jackie Hinson. Jackie felt God's tugging at his heart from an early age to be a minister of the Gospel and he took that calling seriously. In every day of his life, he exemplified what God's love is all about. We at Norton Funeral Home were blessed to have him as one of our family members and are truly better people today for having known him. Jackie being called home to Heaven was not goodbye, but rather, until we meet again, our brother.

Reverend James E. "Jim" Beck, Jr.
March 14th, 1950 ~ August 7th, 2022
With love, we remember Reverend James E. "Jim" Beck, Jr. Jim, a member of our family since the early 1980s, served our firm in whatever capacity he was needed. If a family was without a minister, without hesitation, he would gladly step forward and minister to that family. He was a man who had a longing for the gospel of Christ, and devoted each day to being a servant of His. Our hearts became heavy with his passing, but due to our faith in God's salvation, some of the weight was lifted, knowing we'll one day see you again, our brother.
Mr. Richard R. Parnell, Jr.
March 14th, 1941 ~ April 20th, 2023
Richard faithfully served our firm for 10+ years. He would not even consider going on vacation if he thought he was needed here at the funeral home. His love for people and helping others was exemplified each and every day. One of the hardest things for him later in life was not being able to work due to his illness. Although his physical presence was missed during those days and is missed now due to his home-going, Richard will always be a part of us and we carry him with us daily. Our brother, we’ll see you again one sweet day.

Reverend Charles Heyward McLendon, Sr.
July 15th, 1945 ~ February 10th, 2026
Many years ago, Charles became a staple in the Kelleytown Community due to owning and operating “McLendon’s Superette.” (modern day, Shug’s Steakhouse) The community had a man of reliability, care and compassion for everyone he met. Never would you see him around that he did not have a smile and a kind word to share with you. Following his retirement from “McLendon’s,” he felt God’s tug on his heart for the ministry. Being the God-fearing and God-loving man he was, he answered the call and stepped into the pulpit of Hartsville Advent Christian Church. His ministry did not end there…
Charles approached Norton Funeral Home about becoming a member of the funeral home family. Without hesitation, it was clear that he would be an asset to our family and the families we serve. For 21 years, we proudly called this great man a member of our funeral home family. From office work to night-calls, visitations to funerals. Whatever was needed, Charles was always there to lend a helping hand.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank his wife, Barbara, and family for sharing him with us for all those years. Each one of us are better people for having been able to work beside him.
Reverend Charles Heyward McLendon, Sr., your work here on each is complete, but your legacy will never end.
We love you, Charles.
Reverend D. Scott Davis
November 8th, 1963 ~ February 26th, 2026
Scott was a true ray of light around our funeral home. Each person he encountered was met with a smile and a friendly voice. Never shying away from work, he was always willing to help in whatever capacity he was needed.
Scott had a true servant’s heart, who proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Also, being a minister of the Gospel, Scott ministered to several churches in our area; the last being Hartsville Advent Christian Church, where he was pastor. Scott had a talent and love for music. He found great joy in singing praises. We miss Scott, but are thankful for the time we had with him. His memory will truly live on in each one of us.

With love, we also remember these men who were instrumental with our funeral home in Bishopville.
