William L. (Bill) Edgerton passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home. There will be a celebration of his life held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, June 22 at Hebron United Methodist Church, 3471 Una Road, Bishopville, SC. The Reverend Jerry McManus will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home, 42 Shirley Road, Bishopville, SC.
Bill was born October 20, 1937 in Florence, SC and was the son of Willie Hugh and Harriett Bridges Edgerton. As a young man he served in the United States Navy. During his career in pest control, he established Dr. Killem Pest Control, where he became known to many as “Killem” and later was co-founder of Bug Master Pest Control with his son Billy Edgerton.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joy Shirley Edgerton; children, Billy (Tonya) Edgerton of Elgin, SC, Debbie (Wally) Harrell of Camden, SC, Chris (Roxanne) Edgerton, Loganville, GA, Tammie Smith, Bethune, SC Shannon (Todd) Wilkes Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Whitney (Andy) Watson, Blake Harrell, Kennedy Edgerton, Aubrey Edgerton, Will Edgerton, Rob Smith, Kaylan Smith, Evan DeBellis and Bax Wilkes; great grandchildren, Brantley, McKinley, Mikey and Bella; sisters, Lucy Smith, Charleston, SC Virginia Jackson, Florence, SC, Jenny Mitchell, Aiken, SC and brother Sam Edgerton, Middleburg, FL.
