William Alexander

William Ray Alexander, Jr. 89, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Carolina Pines RMC.
Memorials services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church directed by Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Watson will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Atkinson Center of the church one hour prior to the service.
Born April 8th, 1928, a son of the late William Ray Alexander, Sr. & Mary Kennedy Alexander. He was a lifetime member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class. He received a degree from Clemson University and was the former owner of Stuckey and Alexander Insurance Agency, and a retired Colonel in the US Army. He was a 60 year Mason, a former member of the Kiwains, and a former advisory board member of the National Bank of South Carolina. He was a former Chairman of the Lee County Council.
He is survived by his wife, Shelia Hawkins Alexander of Bishopville; one son, William R. Alexander III and wife Elaine, one daughter Harriett Owens and husband Randy; one sister, Adria Alexander Belk, Florence; two grandsons, Wesley Alexander and his wife Stormy, Brunswick, GA, Nick Nelson, Irmo and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty W. Alexander.
Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 115 West Church Street, Bishopville, S.C. 29010 or Bishopville Rescue Squad, 130 Industrial Blvd. Bishopville, S.C. 29010.
