Mrs. Uldine “Peggy” Bethea Freeman, 87, of Hartsville, peacefully passed away Thursday morning March 22, at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 25, at 2:30 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Hartsville Ward. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Maxton, North Carolina on January 6, 1931, the youngest of seven children of the late William Nathan and Annie Galloway Bethea. Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William Glenn Freeman, Sr.
Peggy was retired from the City of Hartsville after over 35 years of service. She was very active in her church callings, serving in the Children’s Primary, Nursery, and as counselor and President of the Church’s Relief Society Women’s Organization.
Surviving are her son, William Glenn “Buster” Freeman, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Hartsville; grandchildren; Rebekah N. Freeman (friend Andy Thompson) of Bluffton, SC and Jacob Bradley Freeman (fiance’ Kara Connolly), Little River, SC; one brother, William “Bill” Bethea of McColl, SC, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Sonya Harrison of Comfort Keepers for the care she showed Mrs. Freeman and to the McLeod Hospice organization and the McLeod Hospice House for their caring and assistance during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, 810 Maxwell Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646
