Norton Funeral Home 16hn Bethune, SC Mr. Troy W. Johnson, Sr. age 94 went home to His Lord and Savior on October 21, 2013. A service celebrating Troys life will be held Thursday, October 24 at 3:00pm at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Dewey Dean will officiate, with burial in Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday 5-7pm at the funeral home. Troy was one of 10 siblings born to the late Mae and Kate Morrison Johnson of Chesterfield County. He attended Middendorf School and was a WWII Veteran. During his employment years, he worked with Frito Lay, Hartsville Police Department and Darlington County Detention Center. He was a long time member of Fourth Street Baptist Church, having served as an ordained deacon and usher. He was a man known as a prayer warrior, and for his humbleness and integrity. He will be greatly missed as he left a Christian legacy that all should hope to emulate. Surviving are his son, Troy (Woody) Johnson, Jr. (Irene Crowley), Hartsville; daughter, Lynn J. Stephens (Fred), Bethune; grandchildren, Timothy Craig Johnson, Hartsville, Angie Stephens, Charleston; sister in law, Evelyn Johnson, Hartsville. Numerous surviving nieces and nephews. Special friend Sean Kane. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace Davis Johnson; brothers, Perry and Ernest Johnson; sisters, Maybelle Campbell, Alice Burns, Myrtle Burney, Mary Johnson, Mildred Collins, Bertie Howle and Nellie Register. Serving as pallbearers are, Robert Braddock, Lannie Davis, Jerald Dean, Randell Ewing, Jr., Larry Johnson and Frank Morrison. The family is thankful for the care shown to their love one by Dr. Jimmy Bell and his staff, Dr. Mac Chapman, Carolina Pines RMC and the Morrell Rehab. Memorials may be made to the Fourth Street Baptist Church, Hartsville, SC or to a charity of ones choice. www.nortonfh.net
