Thornton Crouch

Florence, S.C. Funeral services for Thornton West Crouch, age 90, who passed away October 24, will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church. Rev. Fran Elrod, Rev. Dane Morehead and Ms. Ann Ayres will officiate. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Mr. Crouch was born in Florence a son of the late Manning Clifton and Tincie Yarborough Crouch .He retired from Banking having served as President of the Peoples Bank and later as President of Mutual Savings Bank. He was a graduate of Wofford College. He was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hartsville and when he moved to Florence became a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He served as President of Kairos Prison Ministry and was a member for 28 years. He was Treasurer of the Association of United Methodist Evangelists from 2004 to 2010. Surviving are his wife, Arlene Webster Herndon Crouch, Florence; one son, Larry (Sharon) Herndon, Florence; one daughter, Janie (L.C.) Tyner, Hartsville; one sister in law, Harriette Crouch, Hartsville; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Herndon Campbell, one sister, Darthea Kemp and two brothers, Manning Crouch and his twin brother, Jimmy Crouch.
