Thomasene Chandler Davis

Bishopville - Thomasene “Toni” Chandler Davis, 99, of Charleston, widow of George Pierce Davis, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 1, 2020.  Toni was born April 8, 1921 in Cades, SC, the daughter and youngest child of William Thomas and Nettie Jones Chandler.  She graduated from Lander College in 1943 and taught English for a number of years until becoming the head librarian at St. Andrews High School in Charleston.  Toni was a long-time and active member of Ashley River Baptist Church, teaching children, youth and adult Sunday School for many years.  She was also a Meals on Wheels volunteer in Charleston. In Columbia, Toni attended Riverland Hills Baptist Church and participated in the Oasis program and was a Vacation Bible School volunteer.

Toni was predeceased by her parents, husband, sisters, Winnie Allen, and Evelyn Beaty, and brothers, Roland Chandler and Joe Chandler.  She is survived by her daughter, Rhetta Lee Davis, son, Keith Chandler (Chip) Davis (LaDonna); grandchildren, Will Rizzo (Dottie),  Leanna Teuscher  (Jerimiah),  Chandler Davis (Julie), Kaitlin Davis Tew (Michael), Taylor Rizzo; great-grandchildren, Paris Rizzo, Davison Rizzo, Daniel Davis, Huxley Hayward, Michael Tew, Grayson Davis, and Turner Tew, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at 3:00 pm at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pinchum Sly Road/Camden Highway, Bishopville, SC.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to staff of Harbison Shores Assisted Living and Memory Care (formerly Agape Harbison and Carolina Gardens-Harbison) for the love and care that they have shown to Toni over the last 7 ½ years and the administration and staff of Comfort Care Hospice for the love and care shown Toni for the last year.
