View Remembrance Video Bishopville, S.C. Thelma Lee Darity Galloway, age 92, of Bishopville, went to her heavenly Father on October 8, 2014. Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:00 at St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the St. Matthew Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville. Visitation will be Saturday 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home. Rev. Kimberly Evans, Rev. Stewart Kidd, Rev. Barbee Parsons and Rev. Ralph Jacobs will officiate. Born October 12, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Pearl Conyers Darity. She was the oldest member of the St. Matthew Church and had served the Lord in many offices at the church for over 65 years. She was also a member of the Home Demonstration Club for many years. She retired from the Kendall Plant after 15 years of service. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend, grandmother, great grandmother and truly a Saint. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Galloway was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Galloway with whom she shared a devoted and blessed union of more than 56 years; Son-In-Law, Irving A. McCathern, Sr.; brothers, Brack and Bobby Darity; sisters, Lucille Darling and Lorraine Watts, and her grandson, Clarence Lever Newsom. She is survived by her three daughters, Jane McCathern, Gayle (Charlie) Newsom and Jackie (Buddy) Baker. Bruce McCathern, beloved grandson and caretaker of the home. Also surviving are her sister, Judy (Sambo) Houck and a brother Jesse (Betty) Darity, Jr; Grandchildren, Andy (Mandy) McCathern, Martin McCathern, Jeffrey (Belinda) McCathern, Gwen Newsom, Charlene (Bryan) King, Jennifer (Chad) Cottingham, Brack Baker and adoped grandson, Brandon Hall; Great Grandchildren, Drew, Chase, Blake, Priscilla and Amber McCathern, Jenna and Cade Cottingham, Lewis Young, Jessica Newsom, Ansley and Landon King; Step Grandchildren, Jacob Davis, Drew Davis, Emily Westfall and one step Great Grandchild, Taelan Watkins.The family would like to give a special thanks to Home Health of Florence, Carolina Pines RMC, Embrace Hospice and Joyce Davis for the care which they gave to Mrs. Galloway.
