Mrs. Sara Irene Hall Atkinson went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday morning, February 5th, 2025, while at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center, while surrounded by her family. Irene was 84 years old.
Born in Camden, a daughter of the late Buddy & Bonnie Arrants Ray. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. While at McCoy, she enjoyed playing Bingo, Penny Auctions, doing crafts, and listening to Gospel Music.
Surviving are her children: Diane Bennet of Sumter, Louis (Christine) Hall of Pace, FL, Terry Hall of Forest Park, GA, Gary “Peanut” Hall of Sumter; siblings: Nora Ray of Hartsville, Rosa Hinson of Camden, Joe Ray of Bishopville, and Ben Ray of Augusta, GA; 12+ grandchildren; 20+ great-grandchildren, and 2+ great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Calvin Hall; granddaughter, Marcella Hall; brothers: James Ray, Hollis Monroe Ray, Cecil Ray, and Daniel Ray.
Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon, February 8th, 2025, from Clyde Church of God. Reverend James Petty and Reverend Russell Gainey will officiate with a committal following in the church cemetery. The family welcomes friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to McCoy Memorial Nursing Center for their excellent care of Mrs. Atkinson over the past several years.
