Sandra Smitt

Mrs. Sandra Faye Smitt, 75, of Hartsville, wife of Mr. Larry Smitt, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 1st, 2017.

Mrs. Smitt was born in Birmingham, Alabama, a daughter of the late Minzer Jeffcoat Yawn & Lois Frances Sivley. Before residing in Hartsville, she lived in Birmingham, Alabama, Biloxi Mississippi, Amarillo Texas, Rapid City, South Dakota, Misawa Japan, Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, Hahn, Germany, and Sumter, South Carolina. Faye was a member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and Major Robert Lide Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry Smitt of Hartsville; two sons, John Smitt and wife, Renee of Hartsville, and Jeffcoat Smitt and wife, Kelly of Pelion; a sister, Barbara Ann McDowell and husband, Carlton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren: Tiffany Beasley and husband, Tyler, and Christopher Smitt both of Hartsville and Dustin Bashore of Pelion; great-grandchildren, Emma Beasley of Hartsville and Knox Bashore of Pelion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Genie Amberson; and brothers, Minzer Yawn, Jr. and Wayne Yawn.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church at 1410 West Bobo Newsom Highway, Hartsville, South Carolina 29550.
