View Remembrance Video Hartsville, S.C. Ronald Melvin Robinson, age 77 passed away August 20, 2015 at his home surrounded by friends and his loving wife Edith of 56 years. Funeral services will be held Monday Aug. 24 at the First Southern Methodist Church at 11:00 am where he will be honored with a full Fire Department Funeral including a Ringing Of The Bell Ceremony, courtesy of the Darlington County Fire Department of South Carolina. Rev. Chuck Alford will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday 3-5 pm at Norton Funeral Home. Ron will be Laid To Rest, Monday at 1:00 at the Florence National Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Ron was born in Solomons Island, Maryland a son of the late Ellis and Clara Jones Robinson. Ron joined the Army out of High School and trained to drive heavy duty trucks and proudly served in the Korean War. Truck driving was a vocation he used during the remainder of his working life, prior to using this talent to work his way thru every vehicle the fire departments owned. Ron was a founding member of the 414 Association, a support unit to provide refreshments to fire fighters during times of emergency. He was also a founding member of the Baltimore Rescue Company and a member of the Baltimore City Auxiliary Truck 6. Later he moved on to become a member of the Green Haven Volunteer Fire Company and served as Chief and President. Surviving are his wife, Edith Rowe Robinson, Hartsville; one daughter, Toni Fowler, Farmer City, Maryland; one brother, John Ellis Robinson, Lake Wales, Florida; three grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Norton Funeral Home is honored to serve the Robinson Family.
