Funeral services for Mr. Rodney Dye, 49 of Hartsville will be held at 11:00 A.M on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Spring Branch Baptist Church. The Rev. Buddy Amerson and Pastor Lon Howle will officiate with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Norton Funeral Home and other times at the home of his mother-in-law, Jean Gainey 1674 Lakeview Blvd. The family strongly requests that all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines be honored and to wear a mask.

Rodney was born in Hartsville SC, a son of Bonnie Louise Johnson Dye and the late Horace Dye. He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church and the Hartsville Lions Club. He worked for GOT Concrete and was previously in the finance business.

He was a loving husband, son and brother. He loved Nascar racing, Gamecock football, fishing and most importantly spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was watching his nieces and nephews grow up and spoiling them all rotten. His nieces and nephews consisted of; Austin, Maklon, Addi, Ollie Mae, Indie, Shelby, Finley, Madelyn, Charlotte, Landon, Brayden, Kennedi and one precious little girl on the way, Emmie Grace.

Rodney was a man of many words and never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed, but we will rejoice with him one day in heaven!

Honoring in his memory are his wife Shannon Gainey Dye, his mother Bonnie Louise (Shadrach Grantham) Dye, his sister Melisa (Larry) D. McDaniel of Little River, mother-in-law Jean Gainey, brother-in-law Bill (Jenna) Gainey, Earl Welch, Nephew Christopher (Cara) Welch of Conway, special cousins Tracie (Kyle) Murray, Lindsi (Brantley) Gainey, Alex Gandy;  Aunt Melinda Gandy, his Uncle Charles Hall, his special friends Brandon Polson, Shadrach and Danny Grantham, and his two fur babies Alex and Emma.

Rodney was proceeded in death by his father Horace Dye, sister Hilda Dye Welch, Brother Willie Dye, maternal grandparents RC and Ola Mae Edwards Johnson, paternal grandparents Herschel Horace and Martha Estes Dye, his father-in-law Henry L. Gainey and his two fur babies Buddy and Nate.

Pallbearers are Brandon Polson, Shadrach Grantham, Danny Grantham, Christopher Welch, Chris Hepeshis, Barry McKenzie and Clarence Gainey Jr. (Squeaky).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spring Branch Baptist Church, 5106 Middendorf Rd. Hartsville SC 29550.
