Robin Young

Hartsville - Robin Akers Young, 55, lost her short battle with cancer and gained her wings on September 17th, 2019 at the Hospice House at McLeod.

She was born in Huntington, West Virginia to Cread Wetzel (CW) and Sharon Akers and was the youngest of two children.

Robin is survived by both of her parents, her brother, Bret ,as well as her husband of 35 years, Donovan Young, her two children Tiffany Young-Diven (husband Chris) of Greenville, NC and Aaron Young (wife Blazely) of Florence, SC, as well as her three grandchildren, Connor Diven (10), Finley Young (3), Felix Young (1), and her fur baby, Molly.

Robin was currently serving as the director of Hartsville Interfaith Ministries and has been in that role since 2007.

She devoted her early life to being a wonderful mother and wife. Once her children were grown, she focused her attention on spoiling her grandchildren absolutely rotten.
Anyone who knew our “Mimi” would tell you she was a die-hard Carolina Panthers fan, a lover of bright colored lipsticks, and had a shoe problem that her daughters encouraged. She loved making her family pose for crazy Christmas cards, she was a huge fan of traveling and adventure, but her greatest joy was making memories with her children and grandchildren. Her children would tell you she was the dictionary definition of what a real “Mimi” was.

The family would like for friends and family to send all donations to Hartsville Interfaith Ministries in lieu of flowers.

Funeral will be held at West Hartsville Baptist Church Friday September 20, 2019 at 4:00pm. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Graveside services will be family only.
