Robert Gregory Amerson

Memorial services for Robert G. Amerson (Robby), aged sixty-eight (68), will be held at 2:00 on Sunday afternoon, March 2nd, 2025, from the Norton Funeral Home Chapel. Services are to be officiated by Dr. James R. Samuel and the family will be receiving friends following the service at the funeral home.  

Robby was known and loved by many. Having lived a colorful and storied life; He later became a Pastor and used these experiences to help and inspire others. Robby was proud to have had a career as an iron worker and an industrial millwright. He had many other talents, not the least of which was being both a master carpenter and mechanic. He will always be remembered for his loving heart and his unwavering strength. Robby had the heart of a champion and to put it into the words of his closest family members – “he was as tough as nails”.

Despite his toughness, Robby passed away after a long battle with cancer, on February 23,2025, at home, surrounded by family and friends.

Robby was born April 8, 1956, to the late Robert Lavern Amerson and Lois Truett Amerson. He is survived by his sons, Jess Amerson and Matt Dawkins (Alecia); daughters, Becky Lloyd and Ashley Dawkins; brother Ronnie Amerson (Beth) of Hartsville; 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Richard G. Amerson; brother Don Amerson (Louise), and sister Patsy Amerson.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the McLeod Hospice team, Dr. Smith, and staff for all their care, compassion, and support throughout Robby’s illness.
