Pastor Ricky Lynn Tolson, age 65 passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side.
Ricky was the owner and operator of Tolson Barber Shop for several years, combining his entrepreneurial spirit with his love for serving others. His passion for evangelism and bringing people to Christ was evident in all aspects of his life. He traveled for 15 years with the Tyner's Music Ministry, sharing his gift of music and heartfelt message. For two years, he served as a Pastor at Faith Holiness Church, where he touched the lives of many through his inspiring sermons and compassionate nature. He is remembered not only for his enduring legacy as a dedicated minister but also as a talented singer, songwriter, and musician.
Throughout his life, Ricky expressed a deep love for sports, particularly for The Gamecocks, and treasured spending time with his family. He found joy in every moment shared with them, and his legacy lives on in their fond memories.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, Sue Tolson, of Hartsville; children, Aaron Tolson (Desiree'), of Wallace, Brandon Tolson (Nikki), of Cheraw, Beverly Tyner (Ricky), of Hartsville, and Brent Melton (Mitzi), of McBee; grandchildren, Penny Tolson, Tyler Tolson, Adelyn Tolson, Brooke Tyner, Noah Tyner, Caroline Gainey (Nick), Timothy, Graham, Ren, Trin, Camp, and Camdyn; and great-grandchildren, Scarlette "Pumpkin," Dargan, Briggs, Remi, Rhett, and Ryland. He also leaves behind nephews Chad and Eric, and niece Susie.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents Jerald and Ellen Tolson, his first wife Penny Tolson, brothers Cecil Tolson and Wayne Tolson, grandson Dargan Brown, and nephew Will Tolson.
Celebration of his life will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, located at 512 Swift Creek Rd, Hartsville, SC 29550. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Crescent Hospice, especially his nurse Sydney for the care rendered during his illness.
