Richard R. "Dick" Moore

Funeral services for Richard R. (Dick) Moore age 74 will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Jamie St. Ours and Rev. John Hamilton will officiate with burial following in Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 5-7 pm at the Funeral Home.

Dick was born in Hartsville a son of the late Julian S. & Sammie Segars Moore. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years and served as a Deacon, Usher, and was a member of the Living Hope Sunday School Class. He worked for Williams Trucking Company for many years and then worked at Sonoco. He later owned Moore’s Trucking Company and retired from Drives and Controls. After retiring he was associated with Norton Funeral Home. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather and enjoyed Deer Hunting.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Demetra Sparrow Moore, Hartsville; one son, Butch (Raven) Moore, Hartsville; one daughter, Karen (Shawn) Melton, Hartsville; 12 grandchildren: Tamara (Brent) Bullard, Lamar, Will (Phoebie) Heustess, Hartsville, Paul (Chelsea) Hopkins, Hartsville, Shawney (Andy) Melton, Ohio, Morgan Melton, Ohio, Jordan Hopkins, Hartsville, Lacey Moore, Hartsville, Richard Moore, Hartsville, Gabe Hopkins, Hartsville, Rylie Hopkins, Hartsville, Dawson Melton, Hartsville and Catherine Moore, Hartsville; six great grandchildren; Brother In Law, James (Jane) Sparrow, Hartsville; Sister in law, Sandra Moore, Hartsville; nephew, Randy Moore; his special dog Scooter. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard R. (Dickie) Moore, Jr., brothers, Julian Moore and Frank Moore.
