Richard Lee Sanders

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Richard Lee Sanders. Richard age 46 went to his Heavenly Home on December 11. Richard was born in Mocksville, N.C. a son of Carolyn Mixon Sanders and the late James Albert Sanders.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday December 22, 2024 in the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Jimmy Jeffords and Rev. Eddie Freeman will officiate. A visitation will be held following the Memorial Service.

Richard was a Millwright by trade. He worked for The Shaw Group,PPM, and Anchor and Steam for over 20 years. He was a landscaper with Southeastern Lawn Care. He was a very good entertainer and musician and played guitar and keyboard with the Sanders Family for 30 years. Richard won the hearts of everyone he met and touched the lives of many people. Richard also was an organ donor who potentially will be saving the lives of seven or more people due to his unselfish generosity by donating his heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, pancreas and bone marrow. The heart transplant has been completed and was very successful due to a team of superb doctors, surgeons and medical staff. His heart is still beating, only in someone else's chest. We would not call the recipients strangers because he knew no strangers. He was a friend and confidant to everyone he met. He will be loved and missed very much. Richard received his wings on December 11, 2024 and is flying high, smiling and watching over all of us. Until we meet again, Rest In Peace my friend.

Surviving is his mother, Carolyn Mixon Sanders; his wife, Joyce Paulette Hall Sanders; step daughter, Roxy Michelle Hall; brother, James Carroll Sanders; nieces, Savannah Lynn Sanders and Madison Victoria King; nephews, Michael Carroll Sanders and Patrick Orion Sanders.

Richard was preceded in death by his father James Albert Sanders.
