It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and faithful employee Mr. Richard R. Parnell, Jr. Richard went to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of April 20 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday at 3:30 at the First Baptist Church of Bishopville. Rev. Keith Allison will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home of Bishopville. A visitation will be held Sunday 1:30 - 3:15 pm in the fellowship building at the First Baptist Church of Bishopville.
Richard was born in Bishopville a son of the late Richard R. Parnell, Sr. and Thelma Lee Grantham Parnell. He retired from Galey & Lord in Society Hill after many years of service. After retirement he was a faithful member of the Norton Funeral Home family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bishopville, an avid Clemson fan and loved his Beach Music and Shagging. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.
Surviving is his wife, Jean Broadway, Bishopville; one son, Michael (Sandy) Parnell, Eutawville; one daughter, Sharon (Mark) Carter, Ehrhardt; three step-children, Diane (Steve) Millen, Bishopville, Lisa (Mark) Duda, Elgin and Mitchell (Bonnie) Broadway, Waynesboro, PA; one brother, Edward C. Parnell, Sumter; one sister, Ethel Skinner, Lamar; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Parnell.
The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone who provided transportation to his doctor appointments during his illness.
