Margarett Mitchum Bennett Hicks 75 of Turbeville SC was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday April 10th, 2021. She was a mother, sister, and friend to many. Margaret was born in New Zion , SC the daughter of the late Samuel (Peg) and Claudia Mitchum. Her brother Edward Mitchum and his wife Hazel survive her as well as one sister, Sylvia Mitchum, and another brother Charlie Mitchum. She had a brother Jackie Mitchum who is deceased as well as a sister Mildred McLeod. Margaret was proceeded in death by her first husband Norman Bennett and her last husband James Hicks.
Now let’s get to the little loves of her life. The eldest and most perfect of them all is Norma Hudson and her husband Billy. She has a handsome son, LaFrance Bennett and wife Laura. She has a standup comedian as a daughter many of you may know , Shannon Bennett. She has a daughter that has stood by her side through these last complicated years and cared for her so lovingly Charrish and her husband LeGrand Welch that we think may qualify for sainthood. The baby boy Cullen Bennett and his wife Amanda. Grandchildren William, Lori, Thres, Maggie, Landon, Rainee, Shelley, Jacob, Eden, Layla, Isaac, Liza, Johnathan, Dallas, Gage, and Blakely and many great grands will miss her. A Grandchild Taylor that proceeded her in death.
Margarett preached at Christan View Church in Hartsville SC for 13 years and again at Mission for Christ in Hartsville SC for another 13 years. She did Evangelical work all over the south east and worked for God her entire life. She also worked as a Registered Nurse for 20 years. She had a giving heart that helped her with many mission projects and building the churches she served in. Many have come to know Christ through her dedication. Her legacy will be continued through her family. She showed how one person can affect lives. A special thank you to Emmie Green Shearer with Amedisys Hospice for her caring support during the final days.
