“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” On Sunday, August 7th Jim saw his Lord face to face.
He touched many lives, was a faithful husband, great father and grandfather, and a long-serving and committed pastor-friend to many.
As he lived he showed us Christ through his generosity and love. When he died it was still a gain for him.
He loved coffee with friends, watching football with family, and books that pushed the limits of what we can know about our Creator.
Jim became part of the Norton Funeral Home family in 1980 and served faithfully for many years always ready to minister to families who were needing to be ministered to.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years: Anne Covey Beck, Hartsville; two children,Jimmy (Amanda) Beck, Hartsville, Holly (Daniel) Watkins, Hartsville, nephew Ryan (Meghann) Rose; three grand-children, Mackenzie Beck, Jeb Beck, and Ellis Watkins and two great-nephews Layne Webber and Lochan Rose.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Beck Sr., mother, Pansy Dubose Beck, and sister, Rebecca Beck Rose. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 3224 Liberty Hill Road, Hartsville, S.C. 29550 or to World Vision.
Norton Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the Beck family.
