Florence, S.C. Graveside services for Rachel Ann Hammett Allen, age 77, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 23, will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hartsville, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Rev. Matt Walton, Dr. Perry Mobley and Rev. Glenn Grosick will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 pm at Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville. Mrs. Allen was born in Ardmore, OK, a daughter of the late Jack & Frances Burkett Hammett. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church. After graduation from High School in Ardmore, OK, she received an associate degree in business from Draugham Business College in Oklahoma City, OK. She held positions at Prudential Insurance and Shevron Oil Company, but most of her career was with Martin-Marietta Aerospace (Now Lockheed-Martin) in Denver, Colorado. She received numerous outstanding awards for her work performance at each of her employments. She expressed her strong Faith in God throughout her entire life. In addition to her Faith she was devoted to her family and was a very private person. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Dan Harrison Allen, Florence; one daughter, Gretchen (Kevin) Parrott, Florence. She was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Hammett; three brothers, Floyd Edward Hammett, Jack Milton Hammett and her twin brother, Richard Dan Hammett.
