Phyllis Ann Rutland Chandler

Hartsville, S.C. 

Phyllis Rutland Chandler, 76, of Hartsville passed away during the morning hours of Sunday, November 10th at Regency Hospital Critical Illiness Recovery at MUSC Hospital, Florence.

Phyllis was a graduate of Eau Claire High School (Columbia) and the University of South Carolina Associate Degree Program in Technical Nursing.  As a RN she worked at Baptist Hospital (Columbia), Hartsville Convalescent Home, ICU Byerly Hospital, and Labor and Delivery Byerly Hospital. She was a long- time member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She was involved in a bicyclist versus pedestrian accident on 8/13/98 in which she sustained a closed head injury. This brain injury necessitated her to retire from Nursing.

Phyllis was born in Columbia a daughter of the late James Marshall Rutland and Jessie June Taylor Rutland. Surviving is her husband, Benjamin M. "Marty" Chandler; children; Heather (Bryan) Doerner, Santa Fe, N.M., Jennifer (Tad) Wildrick, Pompano Beach, Florida and Jonathan M. Chandler, Bradley, ME; sister, Rachel (Neil) Hodge, Elgin; brother, James "Jim" Rutland, Jr. (Vicki), Aiken; four grandchildren, Zane Doerner, Andrew Doerner, Chandler Wildrick and Kiesel Wildrick.
