Perlon McGee

Mr. Perlon Robert McGee, 85, of Hartsville, went home to be with The Lord on Thursday morning, August 9th, 2018, at the McLeod Hospice House surrounded by his family and friends.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in New Providence Baptist Church.  Reverends Cliff Leonard and Craig Cribb will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Friday evening, from 5-7 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home.

Mr. McGee was born in Lake City, a son of the late Samuel Melvin & Minnie Strickland McGee.  Robert was a member and former ordained deacon of New Providence Baptist Church.  He enjoyed going on Wagon Train rides throughout several states in the southeast.  This last year, he was the oldest member of the ride.  He loved his family, church and horses, but most importantly, his Lord.  Robert was a retiree of Sonoco Products after 25 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Willa Mae McDougal McGee of the home; daughters, Lynn Still of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Lanette Beasley of Hartsville; grandchild, Robin Lutton and husband, Matthew of Walterboro; siblings: Melvin “Junior” McGee, Louisa Parrott, Jetty Ruth Rainer; special family friend, Connie Braddock; and several nieces and nephews.
