Pastor James "Jamie" L. Gardner, Jr., 56, husband of Kimberly G. Gardner, of Beaufort, SC, died Saturday, September 23, 2023 at his residence.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:00am at Praise Assembly, with the Funeral service to follow at 1:00pm on Thursday. Burial service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 10:30am at Savannah Advent Christian Church, 1948 Ashland Stokes Bridge Road, Bishopville, SC.
Pastor Jamie was born on October 24, 1966 in Hartsville, SC. He is the son of James L. Gardner, Sr. and Wanda Hill Gardner.
Pastor Jamie received his bachelor's degree in Pastoral Ministry at Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL. In his earlier years of ministry, he was a youth pastor in Excel, Alabama; Huntsville, AL; and Greenville, SC. In 2006, he became the Senior Pastor of Praise Assembly of God in Beaufort, SC, where he pastored for over 17 years. He gave his life to Christ in January of 1986, and immediately felt a call to preach. He was an amazing preacher who could keep your attention for hours. He was married to his bride for 28 years. He loved South Carolina Gamecock football, golf, winning people to Christ, and spending time with family. He was the master of dad jokes.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Kim and his parents; are two sons, James "Trey" L. Gardner, III (Kerrigan) and Preston Gardner; one daughter, Chelsea Gardner; one brother, Glenn Gardner (Dana); one sister-in-law, Mary Ensor (Henry); one nephew, Gavin Gardner; and three nieces, Allyssa Ensor, Summer Ensor, and Brooklyn Gardner. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Maude Gardner and JT and Ruby Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Praise Assembly missions account. Pastor Jamie was a huge advocate of missions and ministering to those in need.
