It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Uneeda "Nita" Tolson Bass. Mrs. Bass age 93 passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 while at Morrell's Nursing Home with her loving family by her side.
Born on May 26, 1930, in Chesterfield, SC, Nita's journey was one filled with love, laughter, and a deep faith that guided her every step. She dedicated her working years to the Darlington County Council on Aging before retiring, leaving a legacy of service and compassion.
Those who knew Nita will always remember her for the love she poured into everything she did. Whether she was whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen, filling the church with beautiful music from the piano, tending to her garden and flowers, or sharing her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, Nita's presence brought light and joy to those around her.
She is survived by her loving family: sons Steve Grant, Hartsville, Tony B. Grant (Denice), Hartsville, Matthew Johnson, Hartsville, Paul "Tinker" Johnson (Maxine), Hartsville; daughters Gail Kimbrell, Hartsville, Lynn Caddell, McBee; sister Joyce Howle (Paul), Socastee; sister-in-law Delores Tolson; ten grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Nita is preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Bass, five siblings, and son-in-law Will Kimbrell.
A visitation in memory of Nita will be held at Norton Funeral Home and Crematory in Hartsville on Sunday March 3, 2024, 3:00-5:00pm The celebration of Nita's life will take place 2:00pm, Monday, March 4 at Whispering Pines Baptist Church followed by her burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Hartsville.
