October 23, 1921 — June 28, 2014

Norton Funeral Home Bishopville, SC Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Beasley Gainey widow of Bedieth Buddy Gainey age 92 will be held Monday, June 30 at 3:00pm at Lucknow Baptist Church. Rev. Howard Brown and Chaplain Allen Lynch will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday 5-7pm at Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel. Mrs. Gainey passed away on June 28, 2014. She was born in Hartsville the daughter of the late Rosie Beasley. She was a member of Lucknow Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She worked several years at the Hartsville and Bishopville Manufactories. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, taking care of her children and teaching school. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Care of SC and for all of their love, support and care provided, Dr. Hunt, Nicole Atkinson, Allen Lynch, Diane Watson, Ann Amerson, Lasonya Gregg and all others who had a part in her care. Surviving are her children, Tommy (Smokie) Gainey and his wife Judy, Bishopville, Donnie Kiser, Bishopville, Major E.O. Gainey and his wife Linda, Bishopville, Joe Boykin and his wife Web, Cassatt; sisters, Janie Atkinson Dixon Brock, Chesterfield, Lucille Atkinson Griggs, Hartsville; brothers, Joe Atkinson, Jr. and Rufus Wayne Atkinson both of Hartsville; 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughters, Bennie Lee Stokes and Bobbie Gillespie, sister, Lena Mae Atkinson Dixon, brothers, James Heyward Atkinson and Dock Atkinson, her son in law Johnny Kiser.
