Mr. Thomas McTeer, Jr

Funeral services for Thomas (Tom) F. McTeer, Jr. age 81, will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Mt. Elon Baptist Church. Rev. Rob Brazell will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Elon Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. McTeer passed away on July 13, 2016. He was born in Hemmingway, S.C. a son of the late Thomas F. and Sara Bell McTeer, Sr. He was a member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and other committees. Thomas was a 1953 graduate of Lydia High School. He attended Clemson College, where he was a member of the Pershing Rifle Precision Drill Team. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years in Stricker Air Command. He retired from Sonoco in Hartsville after 32 years of service and was a member of the Old Timers Club.

Surviving are his wife, Glenda Stanley McTeer, Hartsville; one son, Thomas F. (Stacy) McTeer, III,Summerville, S.C.; one daughter, Susan McTeer, Hartsville; five grandchildren, Sara Beth Windham, Hartsville, Chris Goins, Summerville, Eric Goins, Summerville, Milton Gainey, Hartsville and Stephen Cassady, Hartsville; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Paul Malcolm McTeer, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
