Graveside services for Mrs. Ovell Gregory Versch age 82, widow of Roman H. Versch will be held on Thursday, October 5 at 3:30pm at McBee Cemetery. Pastor Terry Corder, Pastor Danny Holley and Dr. Richard Clark will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 6-8pm on Wednesday at the funeral home, other times at Doug and Scarlett Mason’s house, 23312 Hwy 151, McBee, SC.

Mrs. Versch passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gwaltney Township located in Alexander County, North Carolina. Mrs. Versch was the daughter of the late Commie and Bertha Bunton Lowder Gregory. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she was active as a nursery worker, children's Sunday school teacher, member of Young at Heart and other circle groups. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a friend to all.

Surviving are three sons, Doug (Scarlett) Mason, McBee, Joe (Martha) Mason, McBee, Pedy (Donna) Mason, McBee; step-son, Terry (Esther) Versch, West Lafayette, OH; daughters, Libby (Eugene) Conner, Hiddenite, NC, Judy (Chuck) Thompson, Camden; sister, Billie Ann Sheets, Batesburg; grandchildren left to cherish to her memory are Hilary Pratt, Casey Reid, Jerry Mason, Joseph (Amber) Mason, Chase Mason; step grandchildren are Fred Versch, Roman (Edie) Versch, Michael Versch, Joe Versch, Benjy (Brandi) Thompson, Becky (David) Dabney, Gwen Thompson; five great grandchildren; thirteen step-great grandchildren, also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her loving pet companions, Millie and Jake. She was preceded in death by a daughter Doris Elaine Mason,a sister Irene G. Marlow and a step grandson Terry Versch Jr.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Evans, the nurses and staff on the 2nd floor at Carolina Pines RMC for the loving and compassionate care shown their mother these past days.
