Services for Edith Gooden Johnson age 77, widow of McKinley L. Johnson, will be held on Monday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00pm at Gum Branch Baptist Church. Rev. Stuart Pritchett and Rev. Jerry Gainey will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-5pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson passed away on Saturday, January 07, 2017 at the McLeod Hospice House. She was born in Chesterfield, the daughter of the late James Peter and Henrietta Poston Gooden. She was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church and was baptized at the age of 13 in Clyde Mill Pond. She was retired from AO Smith and ABC fence company. She enjoyed her time with Lake Robinson Rescue Squad where she worked with the Rescuettes. The family wanted mentioned that she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all.

Surviving are daughters, Janice (Victor) Gainey, Hartsville, Beth (Lee) Cagle, Hartsville; grandchildren, Ryne (Brittany) Gainey and Kyle (Elizabeth) Gainey, both of Hartsville; great grandchildren, McKinley Gainey and Jenson Gainey.
She was preceded in death by a special friend, Carson Kelly.
