Funeral services for Mr. Roland Scurry, Sr. age 85 will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 3:00pm at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel. Rev. Mike Watson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashwood Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1:30-3:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Scurry passed away on November 15, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Alcolu, SC the son of the late James Henry and Geneva Weaver Scurry. He was a member of the Ashwood Baptist Church and retired from GTE. He was an avid deer hunter and a man who loved and cared deeply for his family.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary A. Scurry, Bishopville; children, Beth (Mike) Watson, Bishopville, Brenda Geddings, Bishopville, Johnny (Denise) Scurry, Bishopville, Kathy (Larry) Nelson, Lugoff, Angel (Jon) Brannon, Bishopville, Gabe (April) Scurry, Orangeburg; 17 grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren; brothers, Lewis Scurry, Columbia, Ernest (Judy) Scurry, Darlington, Allen Scurry, Rocky Mount.
He was preceded in death by numerous siblings.
