Mr. Herbert King, Jr

Herbert Leonce King, Jr. 90, passed away on June 18, 2017, surrounded by his family. Herbert was born on August 19, 1926 in Darlington County, and was the son of the late Herbert L. King Sr. and Lila Galloway King. He was preceded in death by his loving wife for 68 years Charlotte Mims King.
Herbert served in the U. S. Navy and was a WWII veteran. He was 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Omar Shrine Club. He also retired from Sonoco Products Company.
He was a member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church and faithfully served as a member of church leadership for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22nd at Mt. Elon Baptist Church. The Rev. Rob Brazell will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Surviving are his children: Dianne (Tom) Rosenquist, Omaha, NE; Herby (Teresa) King, Lydia, SC; Ted (Laura) King, Marietta, GA; Randy (Kay) King, Pendleton, SC. Grandchildren: Kevin Eckard, Daniel King, Jonathan King, Caroline (CJ) Johnson, Kathryn King, Brian (Jennifer) King, Jacob (Anna) King, Will King, Gunnar Rosenquist, Frank (Annmarie) Rosenquist. Great grandchildren: Eric Eckard, Dylan Johnson, Camille Johnson, Elizabeth King, Megan Rosenquist, Thomas Rosenquist, Ava Rosenquist. Sibling: Christine Johnson, Hartsville, SC. Sister in Law: Norma Jean King, Hartsville, SC. He had many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnnie W. King and William S. King.
