Mr. Edwin Huggins, Sr

Edwin Bright Huggins, 83, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 11, 2016. Services will be held at the Norton Funeral Home Chapel in Hartsville, SC on Monday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Bill Dority will officiate, with burial in Green Sea Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home.

Born April 8th, 1932 in Green Sea, SC, he was the son of the late Mary Margaret McQueen and Ira Bright Huggins. Survivors include his loving wife Roberta of the home; sons, and Edwin Bright Huggins, Jr., Glenn Davis Huggins, (Mary "Keeb" Rogers), all of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Robert Duncan Huggins, Emma Nance Huggins, Katherine Lizabeth Huggins and Jessica Lauren Huggins, also of Charlotte; one brother, Claude Huggins of Little River and sisters Verna Blanton of Folly Beach, SC, Lottie Ann Jones (Howard) of Bessemer City, NC, and Betty Grainger (Junior) of Tabor City. In addition, Bright is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Robert, Howard, Hubert, and Clayton Huggins and four sisters Mildred Harrelson, Hazel Hinson, Voncile Huggins, and Flora McGoughan.

Bright was a veteran of the U.S Army and attended Letorneau University in Longview, Texas. He worked 28 years as electrician/Maintenance foreman and retired from Union Carbide/ESAB in 1995. Bright loved his family and would eagerly await Huggins family reunions. He enjoyed "tinkering" around the farms with his brothers and spending time on the water at Santee. Bright was a member of First Baptist Church of Darlington, SC and loved the Lord. He found great happiness and joy in the life he shared with his wife Roberta.
