Hartsville - Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Miriam Edwards Houck, 86, who entered into rest peacefully, on Saturday, September 5, 2020, will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Magnolia Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Bishop Heber J. Watson.
Miriam was born in Hartsville, SC, on May 27, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Vera Edwards.
Miriam was the wife of the late George “Dub” Houck for over 50 years and the mother of the late George “Rickey” Houck. She is survived by her two daughters, Sherry (aka Rozene) (Terry) Johnson and Regina (Calvin) Johnson, three beautiful granddaughters, Danielle (Josh) Reames, Hartsville, SC, Shannon (Tyler) Younger, Starkville, MS, Dana (T.J.) Cochran, Chapin, SC. Great-granddaughter Anna Bruce Legette Reames, and second great-granddaughter Olivia Layne Younger in October. Survived by brother Deani Edwards and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded by her siblings and their spouse: Virginia (Ray) Davis, Naomi Edwards, Buddy (Juanita) Edwards, Rufus (Gladys) Edwards, Doris (Phil) Marquis.
Miriam was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as a primary teacher and cub scout den mother for many years. She loved listening to music, especially “Jimmy Buffett.” She enjoyed going to the beach, shopping, and eating out with her daughters and sisters.
