Mike T. Stephens

Mike T. Stephens age 80, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, at McCoy Nursing Home in Bishopville, SC.

Mike was the proud owner and operator of Stampede Western Wear in Lugoff, SC, where he served the community and forged many lasting friendships. Prior to establishing his business, he dedicated 25 years of service to Standard Warehouse Company, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His commitment to his faith was evident as he was a Lifetime Member of Mt. Hebron Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. His contributions extended beyond the church walls as a member of The Gideons International, where he worked tirelessly to spread the message of hope and faith through the distribution of Bibles.

Passionate about family history, classic cars, and music, Mike always embraced his interests with enthusiasm and joy. His love for music often brought joy to gatherings and celebrations, creating an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 60 years, Paulette Brazell Stephens of Bethune. Mike is also survived by his children: Mark Stephens (Julie) of Newnan, GA; Mitchell Stephens (Amber) of Bethune; Miles Stephens (Ruth) of Bethune; and Jahala Williams (T.H.) of Jefferson. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and delighted in the company of eight great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind a special first cousin, Larry Cobb, who shared many fond memories with him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James Alexander and Stella Ruth Cobb Stephens, as well as a special uncle and aunt, F.C. and Lillie Mae Humphrey. He was also preceded by his brother, James Robbie Stephens.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on August 21, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Norton Funeral Home in Bishopville, SC. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on August 22, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Mt. Hebron Freewill Baptist Church in Cassatt, SC, followed by burial at Mt. Hebron Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pastor Jack Cobb and Mr. Mitchell Stephens will officiate.
