Hartsville, SC/Garden City
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Billy Mike "Mikey" Smith, age 73, on December 25 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Ladell Humphries will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and family will be receiving friends at the residence of Kelsey Gainey at 944 Huntington Drive, Hartsville, S.C.
Mikey was born in Hartsville a son of the late Alfred Wesley and Geneva Steadman Smith.
Mikey loved his family, his kids and grandkids were always on his mind. The family came first in life. He enjoyed being on the beach with family and friends. He loved fishing and catching all the big flounder and that is why we called him the “Flounder Man”.
Golfing with friends was part of the frustrating part of life, (haha) but he gave it one heck of a swing. You could drive by on any given day and Mikey would be out there just swinging his golf club.
He was very loving and would do anything for you. He always knew exactly what he wanted to do and always thought he was right. He was always a proud papa and he made sure that we knew that. He knew everyone and they all knew him. He always wanted what was best for his family and he would do anything for us.
Mikey was loved dearly by many and will be missed the most by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Gregory Smith, Garden City; three daughters, Michelle Smith, Hartsville, April Cole, Hartsville and Kim (Matt) Carter, Hartsville; one son, Robert Ciuffetelli, Garden City; one sister, Angie (Jackie) Gainey, one sister in law, Helen Smith, Hartsville; special nieces and nephews; six grandchildren, Savannah Smith, Kelsey (Jaret) Gainey, Evan Carter, Addyson Cole, Branton Ciuffetelli and Kolby Ciuffetelli; two great grandchildren, Maggie Martin and Emberlee Smith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Danny Ray Smith and one infant brother.
