Michael R. Doran

Michael Reeder Doran died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 21, 2019, in Hartsville, SC.

Mick, as he was affectionally known by many, was born September 30, 1949 in Cleveland, OH to Dr. Joseph K. and Doris (Gustin) Doran. He was a graduate of Orange High School in Chagrin Falls, OH and Miami University in Oxford, OH.  In 1976 he married Deborah Bissen and together they raised a daughter Ryann and a son Ben.  His professional career in retail distribution took Mike and his family to many cities including Minneapolis, MN, Grapevine, TX, Fort Smith, AR, and Hartsville, SC.

In his retirement years he continued to stay active - running, volunteering, and working as a grounds keeper at Kalmia Gardens. Mick could talk for hours about baseball, history, and politics.  He loved dogs, especially his beloved English Springer Spaniel, Lucy, and was happiest at family get togethers.

He is survived by his wife Deborah Bissen Doran, daughter and son-in-law Ryann Doran Imhulse and Brian Imhulse, Atlanta, GA; son Benjamin Doran, Washington DC; brothers Richard Doran (Susan), Denver, CO; Joseph Doran (Carlotta), Concord, NC; Peter Doran (Melissa), Ely, MN; mother-in-law Mary Bissen; in-laws Daniel Lecon, Deann Suchomel, Marcia and Dave Petersen, Greg and Joan Bissen, Tom Bissen, David and Kathy Bissen, Lisa Bissen; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dr. Joseph Doran and Doris Doran, sister Sally Lecon, brother David Doran, and father-in-law Benno Bissen.

Celebrations of Life services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019, 2:00pm - 5:00pm at Kalmia Gardens, Hartsville, SC 29550 also a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019, 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Hormel Historic Home, Austin, MN 55912.
