Mr. Michael Dedrick Catoe, affectionally known as “Mike,” passed away Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, at the age of 55.
Mr. Catoe was born in Florence, a son of Alice Catoe and the late, James Rudolph Catoe. He began his lifelong specialized welding career after completing Flour Daniels Welding School and continued to gain numerous certifications and specializations. The “Metal Magician” used his extensive expertise locally and throughout the country to troubleshoot, fabricate, weld, and repair complex issues. Though he was a gifted craftsman, he found his greatest pleasure in spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He was an adventurer who loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He always had a smile, hug, and practical joke for everyone that he loved.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his sons, Michael Canton (Alexis) Catoe and Landon Dedrick Catoe; grandsons: Kayson, Noah, Isaac “Willie,” and Bentely; his mother; and sister, Kelley (Brandon) Sick.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, James Rudolph Catoe, Jr.
Mike’s service will be conducted at 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon, March 13th, 2024, by the graveside of Magnolia Cemetery with Pastor Steven Tarlton officiating. The family welcomes friends to speak with them following the service at the graveside.
Norton Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to be serving the Catoe family.
