Patrick, S.C. Lynn Janet Holcombe, age 69, died peacefully on May 9, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on January 5, 1947 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Vincent and Janet Holcombe. From early childhood Lynn's passion and natural instinct for handling horses became the basis of equine activities throughout her life. She took her first riding lesson at age five and owned her first horse at 14. In 1961 she became an active member of the United States Pony Club.Lynn also enjoyed competing on the New England Horse Show circuit. In 2009, Lynn was named to the Top 50 Instructors with the American Riding Instructor Certification Program and received the award at the ARIA Convention in Naples, Florida. She served on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Horsemen's Council, and was a member of both the Foothills Riding Club and the American Competitive Trail Horse Association. In addition to her work as an equine instructor, Lynn worked for Clemson University as a Team Ventures Facilitator, an educator for a South Carolina State Park, and was a talented artist, photographer, and writer.Lynn also held a BA Degree in Literature and Creative Writing from Francis Marion University. She is survived by her parents Vincent and Janet Holcombe, her brothers Tom (Gloria) Holcombe, and John (Daisy) Holcombe, her four children, Billy Jeffers, Sarah (Ossie) Beauchene, Eric (Marin) Jeffers, and Peter (Carly) Walton as well four grandchildren, Aris Jeffers, Wynne Beauchene, Thomas Walton, and Keller Walton. Lynn requested a small, private family service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to H.O.P.E.
