Louis Calvin Baker

Louis C. Baker, age 96, passed away on August 30, 2024 in Bishopville.

Louis was the son of Jim and Vinie Baker of Lee County. He is survived by his wife, Thelma A. Baker of Bishopville; son, Jerry Baker of Calabash, NC; daughter, Gayle Baker of Little River, SC, as well as a granddaughter, Michelle Carter (Tommy) of Rock Hill; grandsons, Ray Baker of Florence and Jeffrey Baker (Amanda) of Huntsville, AL; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nell Turner of Sumter, Sara Godwin of Bishopville and Ruby Jean Parker of Kershaw County, daughter in law, Anita Baker, Rock Hill. Sadly, Louis was predeceased by two sons, Samuel Baker of Rock Hill, SC and Alan Baker of Nashville, TN.

Louis worked in farming and manufacturing and retired from the South Atlantic Canners, Inc., a Coca-Cola production cooperative. He was an active member of his church for many years and enjoyed camping and fishing and telling stories about fishing. 

A graveside service will be held at the Piedmont Cemetery Tuesday September 3 at 2:00pm. Ernest Christmas will officiate. Burial will be in the Piedmont Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville. To honor his memory, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Ashwood Church of the Nazarene, 2241 Green Ln, Bishopville, SC 29010.
