Linda Sue Stokes Hooper, 82, of Ruby, SC went to be with her heavenly father on Friday, May 17, 2024. She passed peacefully at home with loved ones by her side.
Memorial Services will be at 4:00pm on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 3:00pm an hour prior to the service.
Linda was born in Chesterfield county, the daughter of the late Ernest T. Stokes and Fannie Northcutt Stokes. She graduated from Hartsville High School in 1959. She was employed by A.O. Smith Water Products Company in Customer Service for many years until retiring in 2004. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. They traveled to many states, enjoyed beach trips, and went on several cruises. She was known by her children and extended family for being an outstanding cook and loved preparing delicious meals for them. In her earlier years, she was a talented seamstress and would make suits, dresses and halloween costumes for her family and friends. She also liked working in her yard, gardening, and reading. Most of all she loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and pets. Linda was a kind and loving soul who was loved by everyone she knew and met. Her greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful, loving and devoted mother to Tyler and Lyn. Her wisdom and unconditional love showed us what it truly means to love and be loved. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Although she is gone from our physical presence, we pray her love lives on through us. “To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.’
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mr. Terence “Terry” Hooper of Ruby; children, Tyler McCracken of Hartsville; Lyn McCracken (Trent Shirley) of Florence; and Robert Hooper (Kathleen) of Ruby; a sister, Betty Stokes McLaughlin of Hartsville; grandchildren Madison Weatherly (David) of Timmonsville; and Kelsey Gainey (Jaret) of Hartsville; great grandchildren, Kendall Neal and Lyndsey Weatherly: a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her sister, Gail Stokes Jones.
The family would like to thank Pam Holzman, Kathleen Hooper, and the staff from Agape Hospice for the care and compassion shown to our mother
