Lily Ann Blackwell Sams

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lily Ann Blackwell Sams.

Ann age 62  passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at her residence.     

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday at 2:00 at Faith Baptist Church, 2320 Faith Road, Hartsville.  Rev. Randy Gulledge will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Ann was born in Bethune a daughter of the late Thomas Early Blackwell and Kathleen Weatherford Blackwell. She was employed at Dollar General in McBee.

Ann was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost.  She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She loved her role of “Granny" and there were many who called her that among her family and friends.  

Ann loved to read her bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, fishing, laughing and wearing a smile on her face despite the hardships and struggles she endured.  She was a loving, selfless and caring person who was always thinking of others first. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went, and her customers loved her as well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. 

Left to cherish her memories is one daughter, Hilary (John) Sams, McBee; one son, Chip (Marcie) Sams, Hartsville; one brother, Charles Blackwell, McBee; one sister, Grace (Ronald) Caskey, Hartsville; five grandchildren, Zoey McDuffie, McBee, Izzy McDuffie, McBee, Gunner McDuffie, McBee, Emery Sams, Hartsville and Kaylani Ann Selberg, Hartsville; Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Emery Sams, Jr.; one daughter, Heather Sams; two sisters, Kathy DiCerbo and Alice Keckley; two brothers, Ronald Blackwell and Donald Blackwell.
