Mr. Leon Henry Shoemake age 84 passed away January 6 while at Morrell Nursing Center. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 at the Darlington Memory Gardens directed by Norton Funeral Home. Rev. John Griggs will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 till 11:00 am before the service at Norton Funeral Home.
Mr. Shoemake was born in Hartsville a son of the late Beasley Henry and Essie Smith Shoemake. He retired from the Chesterfield Lumber Company after 20 years of service. He was a hard worker, loved his family and was an avid Gamecock Fan and the Hartsville Red Foxes.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Windham Shoemake, Hartsville; one son, Brian (Laura) Shoemake, Hartsville; one daughter, Angelia (Reid) Harmon, Anderson, S.C.; six grandchildren, Chase Harmon, Matthew Harmon and Ian Harmon all of Anderson, Conner Freeman, Hartsville, Courtney (Jessie) Ghoens, Hartsville and Tyler (Ashley) Freeman, Charlotte; two great grandchildren, Wesleynn Howle and Ezra Ghoens, both of Hartsville.
