A Celebration of Life services for Mr. Charles Kenneth McElveen, Sr. will be held at 11:00am Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be following the services. A Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. McElveen passed at his residence May 19, 2019. He was born in Hartsville the son of the late Ernest Hampton and Virginia Henson McElveen. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving on the naval ship USS Macomb. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for several years. Mr. McElveen and his brother Don were the cofounders of the Darco Buyers Guide. He worked at Sonoco Products Company for over 30 years and was a member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge #173. His hard work ethic was evident by his love of his pine straw business. A few of his hobbies were his love to ride horses, fishing and working in his garden. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Eunice Privette McElveen, Hartsville.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Kaye (Robert) Stanzione, Alpharetta, GA, son, Charles Kenneth (Tracy) McElveen, Jr., Hartsville; six grandchildren, Nikki McElveen (John) Daniels, Trey (Stacie) McElveen, Olivia McElveen, Marie Stanzione (Jim) Anderson, Jennifer Stanzione (Rob) Hanson, Bobby (Dawn) Stanzione; fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Henderson McElveen; brothers, Donald McElveen and Winston McElveen.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Care of South Carolina and to caregivers, Randy Boykin and Patsy Baker for the wonderful care they provided to Mr. McElveen during his sickness.
