Mrs. Julia K. “Judy” Oates, 81, of the Oates community, passed away during the early morning hours of Saturday, February 8th, 2025, while at home with her family.
Mrs. Oates was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Thomas & Doris Galloway Kelley. She enjoyed attending her church, New Life Worship Center and was proud grandmother. Judy loved dancing, Shagging in particular, and also enjoyed spending time with her puppy, Oscar.
Surviving are her children, Tommy (Waynette) Oates and Robert (Beth) Oates; grandchildren: Nicholas Oates, Chandler (Jeanna) Oates, Katie Oates; sister-in-law, Sterling Kelley; nieces, Tonya Kelley, Trisha (Mike) Torrance, and Madalyn Learman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Oates, and a brother, Rusty Kelley.
Her service will be conducted at 3:00 on Tuesday afternoon, February 11th, 2025, from the Hartsville Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with Reverend Will Camp and Reverend Daniel Poston officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Lowcountry Agape Hospice for the care they provided for Judy and the entire family.
