Judy Ann Easterling, 80, passed away into the arms of Jesus on January 9, 2023.
Her service will be conducted at 11:00 on Saturday morning, January 14th, 2023, from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with burial following in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Judy was born on December 7, 1942, in Hartsville, SC, to the late William Ethridge Thompson and late Cornelia Thompson Moore. After graduating from Hartsville High School in 1960, she went on to marry her sweetheart, James William Easterling in 1960 as well.
James and Judy spent most of their married lives living in Spartanburg, SC. Judy worked for The South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind for over twenty-five years. After retirement, they moved back to Hartsville. Judy was a beloved member of Morton Presbyterian Church in Hartsville. She loved her friends there and spent time meeting for Bible study, cooking, and putting together puzzles at the church. But Judy’s favorite way to spend her time, was with her family. She loved cooking and sewing for them, and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy.
Judy is predeceased by her parents, William Ethridge Thompson, and Cornelia Thompson Moore; her sister, Linda Thompson; and her loving husband of sixty years, James William Easterling.
Judy is survived by her children, a son, William Phillip (Elaine) Easterling of Hendersonville, NC; and a daughter, Dawn (Larry) Barnes of Cliffside, NC. Seven grandchildren, Avey Jane (Daniel) Lute of Birmingham, AL; Jason Easterling of Chattanooga, TN; Joshua Sisco of Oxford, MS; Kelli Jane Barnes of Morganton, NC; Kayla (Jonathan) Cobb of Forest City, NC; Tie Barnes and Landon Barnes, both of Cliffside, NC. Four great-grandchildren, Avey Grace, Isabelle, and Micah Lute of Birmingham, AL and Jett Cobb of Forest City, NC. And her brother, Terry Thompson of Florence, SC. Judy’s legacy will live on in each of her loved ones: family and friends.
Norton Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to be serving the Easterling family.
