Joyce Atkinson Gainey

Funeral services for Joyce Atkinson Gainey age 82, will held Friday February 7 at 4:00 at the Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Brad Griese and Rev. Grover Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Joyce was born in Hartsville a daughter of the late Maxie and Sally Katherine Dixon Atkinson. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and spending time with her family. She retired from Sara Lee Hosiery and was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church for many years.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Junius Wesley Gainey, Hartsville; one daughter, Kathy (Merrill) Sheffield and one son, Wayne (Von) Grantham; Stepchildren, Darrell (Lorrie) Gainey and Stacy Blackwell; grandchildren, Brandy (Jason) Kelly, Ken (Jessica) Sheffield, Kayla (Justin) Hawksworth, Travis Blackwell, Zachary (Maegan) Gainey, Nicholas (Caroline) Gainey, Morgan Gainey and Hailey Blackwell; great grandchildren, Brianna (Zack) Williams, Tristan Beasley, Hunter Sheffield, Zoe Sheffield, McKinley Watford, Sara Jo Hawksworth, Dargan Gainey and Trenton Hawksworth; two great grandchildren and two sisters, Sara Tyner and Barbara Reese.

Joyce was preceded in death by her son Johnny Grantham; grandson Trent Grantham; siblings, William Atkinson, Celia Walters, Lula Mae Huggins and JT Atkinson.
