Johnnie Lee Jones

Mr. Johnnie Lee Jones, 81, went home to be with his Lord and rejoin his beloved wife, Sylvia Moore Jones on Saturday morning, January 6^th, 2024.

A native of Hartsville, Mr. Jones was a son of the late Lewis E. & Henrietta O’Neal Jones.  While attending New Providence Baptist Church, Johnnie was saved and baptized and at age 36, he felt God’s calling on his heart to enter the ministry.  While following God’s call, he and his family moved to Hendersonville, NC for him to attend Fruitland Bible Institute.  He later went to Campbell University where he obtained a B.A. in religion.  Following graduation, he served several churches in the area; the last being David’s Grove Baptist Church in Chesterfield and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.  Mr. Jones dearly loved his Lord, wife, children, and grandchildren.

Survivors include his children: Laura (Donnie) Hall, Robin (Jeff) McKenzie, and Jonathan (Joy) Jones all of Hartsville; grandchildren: Jamie McKenzie, Nathan McKenzie, Emilee Grace Jones, Caroline Jones; siblings, Darlene Jacobs and Will Jones; and a brother-in-law, Bobby Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings: Grady Jones, Loraine Jones, and Kenneth Jones.

His funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 on Wednesday afternoon, January 10^th, 2024, from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with burial following in Westview Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  The family also welcomes friends to visit with them on Tuesday evening, from 5-7 at the home of his son, Jonathan, 1213 Branchwood Ln., Hartsville.
