John Clyde Stoner

Mr. Stoner was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jack and Uneeda Stoner. He is survived by his wife Gail Stoner ; daughters Janet (Fred) Burgess, Heather (Chris) Stoner; 4 grandchildren Will (Amanda) Burgess, Lily (Jonathan) Ritch, Megan Eckard, Max Eckard, 1 great-grandson, Samuel Ritch; and brother Donny Stoner.

 

He earned a Bachelor in public health at Wake Forest and then went on to receive a master's in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked as a professor at the University of Kentucky for 7 years before moving on to Charlotte where he was the Health Curriculum Specialist for Charlotte Mecklenburg schools until he retired. Upon retirement he moved back to his hometown of Hartsville where he enjoyed telling "Papa" jokes, spending time with family, and meditating daily. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
