Norton Funeral Home Hartsville, SC Funeral services for Mr. Joe Atkinson, Jr. age 83 will be held Wednesday at 4:00pm Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Westivew Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5-7pm at the funeral home. Mr. Atkinson passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014. He was born in Hartsville the son of the late Joe Atkinson, Sr. and Rosa Beasley Atkinson. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked at Newsome Building Suppy for over 25 years. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Shirley K. Atkinson, Hartsville; daughter, Brigett Atkinson and Ricky Fink, Hartsville; brother, Rufus Atkinson, Hartsville; sisters, Janie Brock, Chesterfield, Lucille Griggs, Hartsville, grandchild, Rodger Dillon Shaw, Hartsville. He will be missed by his faithful companion Pickle. Preceded in death by children, Ronald Atkinson, Kelly Michelle Atkinson, siblings, Heyward Atkinson, Lena Mae Dixon, Myrtle Gainey, William Doc Atkinson. www.nortonfh.net
