Mrs. Janet Register Reames, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at McLeod Hospice House on November 22, 2023.
Born in Bishopville, SC, she was the daughter of Joshua Larry Register and Helen Anders Register. She and her husband of 53 years, Stephen Reames, were members of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Bishopville High School in 1967. Afterwards, she went on to nursing school at Mercy College of Health Sciences to become a Registered Nurse. Janet, then went on to become a nurse at Lee County Memorial Hospital for 30 years where she actively treated and helped the community. Once the Lee County Memorial Hospital closed its doors, she went on to work at Lee County Correctional Facility as a nurse. After her tenure at Lee County Correctional Facility, she later retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield in the medical claims department. After retirement, Steve and Janet fulfilled their dream and moved to the Garden City/Murrells Inlet area to enjoy retirement near the ocean. Janet loved spending time by the ocean and sitting on her front porch. She enjoyed spending time with her greatest treasures, her three granddaughters, who called her Gaga. Janet never met a stranger. She was a loving wife, mom, sister, aunt, and most of all, Gaga.
